My fantasy story, Enjoy :)

The Elevator

“Bella have you got your coat we need to go now”.”Ok mum I'm coming”.

“So are you excited to come to my work”.”Um sure”.”So what is it that you do exactly”.”Well I write the cooking segment in the cooking time magazine”.”cool”. I turn the music on to fill in the time and my mum starts to sing.We arrive at my mums work and I'm so glad to get out of the car because her singing is so painful. We walk inside and there's not many kids which is surprising because there is so many old people. We get to my mums work unite and I start playing on the spinning chair.”Get of that chair it's not a toy”. ”Fine, I’m going to the toilet anyway be back soon”,”ok”.

I walk down the hallway and it's cold and the lights start to flicker I walk into the elevator and see a pink sparkly button that says PRESS ME.
So I do what any 8 year old girl would do I press it.

The elevator starts to shoot down all the levels and past the very bottom floor. My vision starts to go blurry and a spark shoots up my whole body and explodes like a firework and my body starts to go numb and I fall to the ground in shock.

I open my eyes and my vision is blurry. I stand up and my eyes start to get better. The elevator door opens and a bright light is shining in my eye. I walk out of the elevator and see …..

“Where is that girl she should be back by now”.”Frank can you come here please?”.”Be there in a sec Miss”. Frank ran down the hall and got Bella's mom's coffee to her. ”Yes what seems to be the problem. ” I can’t find Bella anywhere”. ”Well im sure shes just playing with another kid or messing about with the elevator you know kids are always playing in the elevator go up and down all the levels”.”Ok you're probably right”.

My jaw drops its the most wonderful thing I have ever seen in my life. I hear a faint noise echo through the room my favorite song playing I start singing to the chorest “Lollipops and unicorns everywhere I go hey!” I look around the room and see lollipops the size of me, a chocolate fountain and the most magical thing of all UNICORNS!
I run over to the chocolate fountain and cup my hands together and start drinking the chocolate out of the fountain. I turn around and see a boy. He had dark brown hair and blue eyes like the colour of the pacific ocean. He introduced himself ,”Hello there my name is charlie and you must be Bella. I was speechless he was the boy of my dreams.”Ah ah um hi yeah I’m bella”.
Hey look what's that over there it looks like door. Charlie opens the door and hands suddenly reach out and grab him.”NO CHARLIE COME BACK. I run into the darkness and see a very faint light in the distance, a dark figure runs into the light and I start to chase it thinking it has Charlie. I started to lose my breathe but I keeped running I could feel my heart beating two beats then a pause repeating the rhythm. The figure stopped and put charlie down and turned around and looked at me, It started to walk towards me. As the figure got closer I could see its face it was a girl who looked about 12 she had straight brown hair and brown eyes she wore a lacy white dress with blood stain marks. As she got closer and closer she stopped a meter away from me.
“Hello”
I started to freak out inside but tried not to show my fear.
“So you pressed the button”. The girl laughed. ”You kids fall for it every year”. ”Fall for what”?
“Think about it, why would a button suddenly appear, haven't you ever watched horror movies something magical happens the suddenly a mad person appears”. ”Just think of me as the mad person”.

ANZAC

Why were horses used in the war?

When war began in 1914 the British army took 25,000 horse. They were used to pull heavy guns, to transport weapons and supplies, to carry the wounded and dying to hospital. In the first year of war the countryside farmers were heartbroken families who saw their finest and most beloved horses taken by the government.Transported to the ports, they were hoisted onto ships crossing the Channel before being taken into the horrors of the front line. Some men formed close relationships with the horses. They did their best to care for them in the most testing and tragic conditions. Some men became as close to their horses as to their fellow soldiers and their loss was felt as deeply. All had their own names, personalities and histories, never to be forgotten.

Between 1914 and 1917 around 1,000 horses were sent from the United States by ship every day. They were a constant target for German naval attack. The horses were so important to the war that German saboteurs also attempted to poison them before they embarked on the journey.

At the end of the war some of the surviving horses were sold as meat to Belgian butchers, being unfit for any other purpose. But for the few that returned home there was a joyous welcome and reunion.

ANZAC

What other animals were used at the front line?

When world war 1 started Mules, Dogs, monkeys,Camels, and pigeons all played vital roles, as well as many others all at great risk.

  • Horses
Soldiers fought on horseback using swords and guns. But they soon realised men on horses could not win the war in the trenches, so they were used for transportation instead. Some horses carried wounded soldiers and other horses carried weapons.

  • Dogs
Dogs were some of the hardest and most trusted workers. The most popular dogs were medium-sized, like Doberman Pinschers and German Shepherds. The dogs would usually be in the trenches with the soldiers.  The Casualty dog  is trained to find wounded or dying soldiers on the battlefield. They carried medical equipment so an injured soldier could treat himself and they would also stay beside a dying soldier to keep him company.Sentry dogs stayed with one soldier or guard and were taught to give a warning sound such as growling or barking when they sensed a stranger in the area or close to camp.

  • Birds
Birds were the most reliable way to transport messages. 100,000 carrier pigeons were used as messengers during the war. Pigeons always flew home when released, so the troops made sure the pigeons' nests were in places they needed to send messages.Records say pigeons delivered 95% of their messages correctly. Pigeons were kept at military bases and even in old London buses, which were brought over from England.

  • Jackie the baboon
Jackie the baboon was taken to France by South African soldiers. Jackie had excellent eyesight and hearing and used to warn soldiers of enemy movement or possible attacks by making noises and tugging on their clothing.

  • Pest
Soldiers living in trenches found millions of pests during the war including rats. They fed on rotting food because there was no way of getting rid of rubbish in the trenches. A little terrier dog shows off its catch after a 15 minute rat hunt in French trenches in September 1916.
